The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, has decided to review compassionate appointment claims as a one-time initiative to reevaluate genuine cases. Additionally, the Cabinet has sanctioned the Policy for Regularisation of Certain Encroachments on Government Land of 2026, in line with the Supreme Court’s directives, to assist landless families and marginal farmers in possession of government land for residential, agricultural, and horticultural purposes.
The Cabinet has also introduced the Agriculture Loan Interest Subvention Scheme to support farmers facing land auctions. Under this scheme, the government will cover 50% of the interest on eligible agricultural loans up to Rs 3 lakh, benefiting 6,356 farmers. Furthermore, approvals were granted to fill 400 Work Inspector positions under the Directorate of Recruitment, as well as 300 Medical Officer roles and 250 Class-IV and Multi-Task Workers positions in the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
Moreover, the Cabinet has given the green light to recruit 200 staff nurses in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, 162 positions in the Health and Family Welfare Department, and 75 Assistant Professors across various medical colleges. It has also provided a one-time relaxation to six designated Professors of Radhakrishnan Government Medical College in Hamirpur and decided to pay full salaries to employees on study leave, including settling outstanding salary balances for previous study leaves.
In a move to aid fire-affected families in Shimla district’s Jubbal, Kotkhai, and Rohru areas, a special relief package has been extended. Each of the 15 affected families will receive financial assistance of Rs 7 lakh for fully destroyed houses, totaling Rs 84.70 lakh in aid.
