Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Sukhu, praised party workers and the state’s residents for the Congress party’s strong performance in the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections. With Congress-backed candidates prevailing in 32 out of 47 municipal bodies, Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the public’s trust in the government’s policies and welfare initiatives. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received and highlighted the government’s commitment to implementing public welfare schemes effectively.
The Chief Minister noted the widespread approval received by Congress-supported candidates across all districts, stating that this trust from the people motivates the government to work with increased dedication and responsibility. He reiterated the government’s focus on equality, balanced development, and the welfare of all sections of society, emphasizing these principles as the foundation of the state’s governance. Chief Minister Sukhu contrasted the Congress’ inclusive approach with what he described as the BJP’s divisive politics based on religion and caste.
Highlighting the government’s achievements, Chief Minister Sukhu mentioned the fulfillment of promises made during the 2022 Assembly elections and the successful implementation of various welfare schemes benefiting women, laborers, and marginalized groups. He also pointed out significant reforms in education and healthcare, along with efforts to bolster the rural economy through measures such as increased support prices for agricultural produce.
Moreover, the establishment of a ‘Kisaan Aayog’ and initiatives like the universal carton system for apple growers were cited as steps taken to support farmers and horticulturists, contributing to the state’s rural economy. Chief Minister Sukhu commended the winning candidates and called for collective efforts to advance Himachal Pradesh towards self-reliance and prosperity.
