Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta unveiled the poster of the ‘Chalo Himachal’ campaign in Shimla. The campaign, led by the Govind Sagar Adventure & Water Sports Association, aims to boost adventure tourism and water sports activities in the state, focusing on major reservoirs and lakes.
Governor Gupta praised the association’s dedication to showcasing Himachal Pradesh as a top destination for adventure and eco-tourism. Emphasizing tourism as a key economic driver for the state, he highlighted that initiatives promoting the state’s natural beauty and adventure offerings would attract more tourists and create job opportunities for local youth.
Ishan Akhtar, a founding member of the association, briefed the Governor on the ‘Chalo Bilaspur, Chalo Himachal’ campaign. The association plans to host various adventure sports events throughout the year at locations like Govind Sagar, Kol Dam, Pong Dam, and Chamera Dam, including water sports championships, paragliding competitions, and international open water swimming championships.
The events are designed to elevate Himachal Pradesh’s profile on the global tourism stage while fostering employment opportunities and local economic growth. Governor Gupta was honored during the event by Akhtar and executive member Bilal Ahmad Shah.
