Amid tight security measures, the Hindu community is set to conduct the Mahaarti at the Bhojshala complex in Dhar between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday. Tensions persist in the town following a recent court decision recognizing the site as a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Organizers canceled a planned “Shobha Yatra” to maintain peace.
The Bhojshala complex has been a focal point of a longstanding dispute. Hindus consider it an ancient center of Sanskrit learning with a temple of “Vagdevi or Saraswati,” while Muslims have used part of it as the Kamal Maula Mosque for decades. The Madhya Pradesh High Court ruled on May 15, affirming the area as a Hindu temple and suggesting alternative land for a mosque.
In response, the Muslim community has appealed to the Supreme Court, challenging the High Court’s decision. They hope for a fair resolution through the judicial process. Security has been heightened, with various forces deployed, and authorities urging compliance with the court’s directives to maintain peace and order.
Officials have emphasized the need for adherence to the court’s orders and have warned against any disruptions during the planned events. The administration is committed to upholding peace and the rule of law, with both communities closely monitoring the legal proceedings in this significant case.
