In a tragic incident in Bangladesh, a 40-year-old Ansar member named Bajendra Biswas was fatally shot by his colleague Noman Mia in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district. The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force, a paramilitary auxiliary force, is responsible for internal security in the country. The shooting took place at the Sultana Sweaters Limited factory where both men worked.
Reports indicate that Noman and Bajendra were sitting together when the shooting occurred, resulting in Bajendra being critically injured and later pronounced dead at the Upazila Health Complex. An eyewitness, Ansar member APC Azahar Ali, mentioned that Noman suddenly shot Bajendra without any prior argument between them. Following the incident, Noman fled the scene but was later apprehended by the authorities.
The Additional Superintendent of Police in Mymensingh district, Abdullah Al Mamun, confirmed Noman’s arrest and stated that an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack. The victim’s body has been sent for autopsy, and legal proceedings are in progress. This incident marks the third attack on minorities in less than a week and the second in Mymensingh, reflecting a concerning trend of violence against minority communities in Bangladesh.
