Hockey India has revealed the 20-member men’s squad for the upcoming FIH World Cup in Belgium & Netherlands from August 15 to 30. The team will be led by ace defender and drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh. The squad includes a mix of experienced players like Manpreet Singh alongside young talents in various positions.
Veteran midfielder Manpreet Singh, India’s most-capped player, brings a wealth of experience to the team. The squad features players like Mohith HS and Suraj Karkera in goalkeeping roles, with a defensive unit comprising Jarmanpreet Singh, captain Harmanpreet, and others. The midfield will be led by Manpreet, Hardik Singh, and Vivek Sagar Prasad, among others.
Chief coach Craig Fulton expressed confidence in the squad’s potential to make a mark in Indian hockey history. The team, drawn in Pool D with England, Pakistan, and Wales, will kick off their campaign against Wales on August 15. India aims to reclaim its former glory in the prestigious tournament after a long hiatus from the podium.
