Hockey India has revealed the 15 players selected for the sub-junior men’s national camp in preparation for the Men’s Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship 2026 in Muscat, Oman. The camp, scheduled from July 7 to 18 at Panjab University in Chandigarh, will be overseen by former India captain Sardar Singh, who will guide the young talents.
All 15 players chosen for the camp were part of the Indian team that secured the gold medal in the U18 Men’s Asia Cup 2026 by defeating Japan 4-1 in the final. This initiative by Hockey India aims to bolster the U-18 program and nurture budding talent before their progression to higher national teams.
The training camp spanning two weeks aims to familiarize players with the tactical aspects of Hockey5s and enhance their skills through structured sessions. Panjab University’s support in hosting the camp with top-notch facilities is acknowledged by Hockey India for providing an ideal training environment for the players.
Expressing his thoughts before the camp, coach Sardar Singh emphasized the significance of the players representing India in a new game format at a competitive level. The focus during the camp will be on honing the players’ understanding of Hockey5s requirements and reinforcing fundamental skills crucial for their future careers.
