Hockey India has started accepting player registrations for the Hockey India League (HIL) 2027 Player Auction, set for September, leading up to the tournament’s launch in January 2027. Following successful seasons in 2024–25 and 2025–26, the upcoming HIL is anticipated to elevate competition standards, drawing elite players from India and worldwide.
Players from various prominent hockey nations can register for the league. Eligible countries for men include India, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, England, Argentina, Germany, Spain, Ireland, France, New Zealand, South Africa, Malaysia, and Japan. Women players from India, the Netherlands, Argentina, Belgium, China, Spain, England, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, the United States, Ireland, Scotland, and Japan are also eligible.
The Hockey India League has seen significant growth since its revival, featuring eight men’s and four women’s franchises in the last season, leading to high fan engagement. Over 1,000 players registered for the 2026 auction, comprising 500 Indian men, 350 Indian women, and 240+ international players, showcasing the league’s expanding global popularity. SG Pipers and Kalinga Lancers were the respective champions in the Women’s HIL 2026 and men’s categories.
Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey expressed excitement about the league’s status in world hockey, emphasizing the positive response from players globally. The league aims to provide exposure to players at the highest level while enhancing India’s hockey landscape. Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh highlighted the growing trust and interest players have in the league, encouraging all eligible players to participate in the upcoming 2027 edition. The Hockey India League 2027 is gearing up for an eventful season, welcoming both rising talents and established stars to compete at a premier level.
