Hockey India has signed an MoU with the Government of Telangana to host a leg of the Women’s 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers in Hyderabad from March 8 to 14. The tournament will see eight international teams, including India, England, and Korea, vying for spots in the FIH Hockey World Cup Belgium & Netherlands 2026.
In Hyderabad, teams will compete for three World Cup berths, with the top three finishers securing direct qualification. Telangana’s collaboration with Hockey India emphasizes India’s growing prominence in international hockey and Telangana’s emergence as a preferred sports event host.
The MoU signing signifies Telangana’s commitment to sports and empowerment of women athletes. Telangana’s Chief Minister expressed pride in hosting the event, aiming to position Hyderabad as a top-notch sports destination. The Sports Minister highlighted the region’s enthusiasm for sports development, viewing the event as an investment in youth.
