Lavkesh Bajaj, the owner of Flourish Stay hotel in Malviya Nagar, was arrested last year for aiding Bangladeshi nationals in obtaining forged Indian identity papers and fake documents like Aadhar cards and passports. The police revealed that Bajaj helped a woman, her daughter, and minor grandson overstay in the country by facilitating the creation of fraudulent documents. All involved parties were apprehended and imprisoned following the discovery of their illicit activities.
The arrests occurred after a case was registered against Bajaj and the Bangladeshi nationals under specific sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) at Paharganj police station in January 2025. Investigations exposed Bajaj’s alleged involvement in assisting the foreigners in acquiring Indian identities through deceptive means.
The police investigation uncovered that two Bangladeshi nationals, Sweety Sarkar and her family, were residing illegally in Paharganj with falsified documents, including passports and Aadhaar cards. The authorities found discrepancies in the passport of Sweety Sarkar, revealing a forged address belonging to Lavkesh Bajaj’s property. The police also seized counterfeit documents like Aadhar cards, passports, and bank papers during a search of the premises where the Bangladeshi nationals were living.
Subsequently, all three individuals, including Bajaj and the two Bangladeshi nationals, were arrested and detained for over 15 days in Tihar jail. Bajaj confessed during police interrogation that he allowed Sarkar and her family to use his address for obtaining Indian identity documents in exchange for financial gains.
A year later, Bajaj faced legal trouble again due to severe violations at his Bed and Breakfast establishment in South Delhi, which tragically caught fire, claiming the lives of 21 individuals, including 12 foreign nationals. Following the incident, Bajaj was promptly arrested and placed in police custody.
