India’s HS Prannoy caused an upset by defeating Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie in a thrilling match at the Singapore Open. Prannoy, ranked lower, fought back after losing the first game to secure a 10-21, 21-12, 21-18 victory in 61 minutes. He will now face Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew in the Round of 16.

In another match, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto progressed to the next round of mixed doubles after a hard-fought win over Malaysia’s Wong Tien Ci and Lim Chiew Sien. The Indian duo displayed resilience to clinch a 21-14, 20-22, 21-13 triumph in a competitive encounter.

Prannoy’s strong comeback in the second game, where he took control early and maintained his lead, set the tone for his victory. Despite Christie’s initial advantage in their head-to-head encounters, Prannoy’s determination paid off as he sealed the match decisively in the third game.
