Hundreds of Internally Displaced People (IDP) affected by violence protested in Imphal, urging Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to address their resettlement concerns. The rally, organized by the COCOMI and the Meitei community, sought permission for displaced families to return to their original homes with proper security. The demonstrators, led by COCOMI, marched from Kwakeithel Takhellambam Leikai to Lok Bhavan.

Security forces, including police and Rapid Action Force personnel, halted the rally near the Governor’s House at Keishampat junction. Following a meeting with Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel and Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the protesters dispersed. The delegation discussed the situation of displaced people and related issues with the Governor at Lok Bhavan, Imphal.

Efforts for the safe return and rehabilitation of IDPs are already in progress, as reiterated by Governor Bhalla during the meeting. Chief Secretary Goel and Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Home) N. Ashok Kumar were also present during the interaction. Despite submitting memoranda for resettlement, the IDPs expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of positive responses from authorities.
