Hybrid long-short funds made up 70% of the total assets under management of Specialised Investment Funds (SIFs) in May, reaching Rs 9,709 crore with an average folio size of Rs 33.9 lakh, as per a report by ValueMetrics. The total SIF AUM by the end of May 2026 was Rs 13,814 crore, with an average folio size of Rs 24.3 lakh.
Equity-oriented strategies accounted for 28% of the SIF AUM, totaling Rs 3,843 crore with an average folio size of Rs 14.1 lakh. In May 2026, the total SIF inflows were Rs 1,396 crore, marking a 15% increase from April 2026’s Rs 1,219 crore. Since October 2024, the total inflows amounted to Rs 13,625 crore.
Hybrid long-short funds received Rs 707 crore in May 2026, an 8% rise from April 2026’s Rs 651 crore, attracting Rs 9,526 crore since October 2024, the highest among all strategies. Equity-Orientated Strategies saw inflows of Rs 652 crore in May 2026, a 36% increase from April 2026’s Rs 478 crore. The total inflows in this category since October 2024 were Rs 3,842 crore.
The mutual fund industry displayed a stable performance in May 2026, with total AUM at Rs 81.6 lakh crore and net inflows (Active Pure Equity + Hybrid) at Rs 33,468 crore. Active equity mutual funds recorded gross inflows of Rs 57,604 crore in May 2026. SIP contributions remained robust at Rs 30,954 crore, with SIP assets at Rs 17.12 lakh crore. Hybrid funds, excluding arbitrage, attracted net inflows of Rs 4,862 crore.
Gold ETFs experienced net outflows of Rs 725 crore in May 2026, reversing the earlier inflow trend, while active equity net flows were at Rs 22,908 crore. SIP contributions remained strong at Rs 30,954 crore, reflecting sustained retail investor engagement despite market fluctuations, with SIP assets at Rs 17.12 lakh crore.
