Leading IT company IBM has inaugurated its first Infrastructure Innovation Centre at the new India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) campus in New Delhi. The Sangam Infrastructure Innovation Centre signifies IBM’s significant investment in India as a center for advanced infrastructure engineering and AI innovation, catering to both local and global markets.

This collaborative engineering hub will unite IBM’s systems architects and infrastructure experts from ISDL to collaborate on AI solutions with clients, independent software vendors, global system integrators, global capability centers, and ecosystem partners. By consolidating hybrid cloud capabilities, advanced infrastructure technologies, and AI solutions in one location, the center aims to expedite the development and implementation of secure, scalable enterprise AI systems.

Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, emphasized the critical role of infrastructure in India’s AI journey, stating that it will dictate the pace and extent of organizational innovation. Patel highlighted that Indian enterprises across various sectors are upgrading their core systems to be AI-ready. He also underscored IBM’s enduring commitment to India through this center, enhancing the company’s capacity to create, develop, and expand infrastructure solutions locally while contributing to global advancements.

Subhathra Srinivasaraghavan, Vice President of IBM India Systems Development Lab, stressed the importance of robust infrastructure for maximizing AI’s potential. The center leverages profound systems engineering knowledge and collaborative partnerships to assist clients in implementing AI on a large scale, ensuring performance, security, governance, and reliability in critical environments.

A recent study by the IBM Institute for Business Value revealed that 58% of Indian organizations have augmented their infrastructure investments in response to the growing demand for AI. The study also forecasted a 19% increase in infrastructure budgets by 2025, with 43% of organizations establishing or planning AI Centers of Excellence.
