The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is set to exhibit a variety of deep-tech innovations, research projects, and startups at ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’, a global technology exhibition in France. Organized by the Ministry of Education in France from June 14-16, the event aims to highlight promising technology ventures from Indian higher educational institutions and centrally funded technical institutes. IIT Madras will lead two thematic areas and present 15 startups incubated within the institute.
The event will serve as a platform to connect Indian innovators with a diverse audience including investors, policymakers, industry leaders, research institutions, and technology partners. IIT Madras’ pavilion will showcase major research projects focusing on deep-tech innovation and indigenous technology development, such as Hyperloop technology, lab-grown diamonds, 5G and 6G communications, port automation, and a domain-specific low-compute indigenous AI ecosystem.
Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, emphasized the significance of the event in fostering collaboration between IIT Madras and French universities, research laboratories, startups, and industries. The India-France Year of Innovation 2026 and Bharat Innovates 2026 are expected to create new avenues for joint research, technology transfer, startup partnerships, and talent exchange programs.
