In a joint operation, the Kolkata Police STF, Bihar STF, and Madhusudanpur Police Station discovered an active illegal improvised firearms manufacturing unit in Rahamatbagh village, Bhagalpur district, Bihar. The raid, conducted at Md. Nasir Ansari’s residence, revealed that the accused had been running the illegal arms unit under the guise of a spinning mill. Five individuals, including a co-owner and four skilled arms manufacturers, were arrested during the operation.
The joint team seized 20 semi-finished country-made 7.65 mm pistols, eight pistol barrels, and various machines and tools used for manufacturing firearms from the premises. The arrested individuals, including Md. Monazir and others from Bhagalpur and Munger districts, were identified as skilled arms makers. Bhagalpur Police are actively searching other locations to apprehend additional absconding suspects.
Following the arrests, an FIR was filed by Bhagalpur Police under the Arms Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Madhusudanpur police station. The operation was initiated based on intelligence received by the West Bengal STF regarding the illegal arms manufacturing unit in Bhagalpur, with the information shared with local authorities for the coordinated raid. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused were producing country-made firearms for distribution to criminals in West Bengal.
