The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate rainfall in Tamil Nadu’s Western Ghats districts until July 30. A weak low-pressure circulation along the Tamil Nadu coast is responsible for these weather conditions. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) anticipates moderate showers in the Western Ghats regions over the next few days.

While the Western Ghats areas are set to receive consistent rainfall, the rest of Tamil Nadu may encounter light showers accompanied by strong surface winds. Meteorologists note that the atmospheric conditions are conducive to scattered rainfall across the state. However, the intensity and distribution of rainfall are likely to vary across different regions.

The Western Ghats belt is expected to benefit the most from the current weather pattern due to its geographical positioning and the influence of moisture-laden winds. In Chennai, isolated parts of the city may experience light rain on Saturday, with partly cloudy skies and intermittent rain spells throughout the day.

Despite the forecast of showers, humid conditions are projected to persist in the city. Additionally, the weather department issued a heat advisory for several interior districts of Tamil Nadu, warning of temperatures significantly above normal until July 28. Districts such as Vellore, Erode, Karur, and others could see temperatures up to 4 degrees Celsius higher than the seasonal average.

Residents in these districts are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses. Conversely, temperatures in other parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to remain near normal for this period. Weather officials are closely monitoring the weak low-pressure system’s development and its impact on statewide rainfall. They urge the public, especially those in hilly and rain-prone areas, to stay vigilant and follow official weather updates as conditions may change.
