The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a seven-day heavy rainfall alert for Tamil Nadu due to a low-pressure trough extending from western Rajasthan to the Comorin region. This trough, spanning several regions, is expected to bring widespread rainfall across the state.
Moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is predicted for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on Saturday evening. Districts like the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and others are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall.
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in hilly regions like Coimbatore and Tiruppur, along with districts like Theni and Dindigul on Sunday. Interior districts such as Erode, Salem, and Tiruchirappalli are also expected to receive heavy showers in the coming days.
Despite the rainfall, maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are not expected to change significantly over the next two days. However, high humidity levels combined with elevated temperatures may lead to discomfort in coastal areas.
