The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm and rainfall alert for 25 districts in Rajasthan. While relief from summer heat persists in the state, experts caution that intense heat and heatwave conditions could return to western Rajasthan starting June 8. Recent pre-monsoon activity has led to significant rainfall in various districts, with a notable drop in temperatures.
Thunderstorm and rainfall activity is expected to continue in Rajasthan over the next two days before conditions gradually become drier from June 8. Despite the cooling effect of the rain, residents are advised to stay cautious during thunderstorms and strong winds. Temperature variations across different regions have been recorded, with some areas experiencing a decrease in mercury levels.
The recent rainfall has brought relief to cities like Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, and Bikaner, with varying amounts of precipitation reported. Notable rainfall figures include 75 mm in Shahpura (Bhilwara) and 45 mm in Ajmer. Weather conditions changed suddenly in parts of the Bikaner division, leading to dust storms, strong winds, and rain in several areas, along with reports of hail in isolated locations.
