The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds in Madhya Pradesh over the next five days. Moderate to severe weather activity is expected across various parts of the state, with thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and strong winds predicted to reach speeds of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour in many areas. Specific districts like Jabalpur, Guna, Rewa, and others are likely to experience thunderstorms with winds reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour in the evening.
The IMD bulletin mentions that certain districts are under an orange alert for isolated places, while a yellow alert is in effect for a larger number of districts including Bhopal, Indore, Sagar, and more. The southwest monsoon has progressed into parts of the Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and the Bay of Bengal. Weather conditions are being influenced by a western disturbance over north Pakistan and induced cyclonic circulations.
Rainfall has been reported in various areas of Madhya Pradesh, with Guna recording the highest gusty wind speed at 57 kilometers per hour. The meteorological department advises residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid seeking shelter under trees, and steer clear of open fields, water bodies, and weak structures. Farmers are urged to delay harvesting activities and safeguard standing crops from hail, while motorists should exercise caution due to reduced visibility.
Residents are encouraged to adhere to safety guidelines to reduce the risks associated with lightning, strong winds, and hail.
