Indian women’s success in international cricket continued with the India A Women’s team securing the Rising Star Asia Cup in Bangkok. This victory followed the senior team’s triumph in the T20I series in Australia. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia commended the young squad, led by Radha Yadav, for their exceptional performance and acknowledged the contributions of the coaches and support staff.
The India A Women’s team claimed their second ACC Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars title by defeating Bangladesh A Women in the final. Tejal Hasabnis played a crucial role, scoring an unbeaten half-century as India successfully defended their title with a 46-run win at the Terdthai Cricket Ground.
In the final match, India A posted 134/7 in 20 overs after opting to bat first. Bangladesh A Women, in response, were bowled out for 88 runs in 19.1 overs. India had a steady start but faced a challenge as Bangladesh took quick wickets. However, a vital partnership between Hasabnis and captain Radha Yadav stabilized the innings and guided India to victory.
Bangladesh’s chase for 135 runs saw a poor start with early wickets falling. Despite efforts from Sarmin Sultana and Sadia Akter, India’s strong bowling attack led by Prema Rawat restricted Bangladesh to 88 runs. Rawat claimed 3/12, supported by Sonia Mendhiya and Tanuja Kanwer with two wickets each.
