External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Belgium’s counterpart, Maxime Prevot, held discussions in Brussels to enhance cooperation in political, economic, investments, clean energy, defense, mobility, and pharmaceutical sectors. They highlighted opportunities in ports, maritime, semiconductors, and supply chain de-risking. The leaders also exchanged views on global developments, including in West Asia.
During the India Belgium Strategic Dialogue, EAM Jaishankar emphasized the deepening partnership between the two countries and the European Union. The dialogue covered various areas of cooperation, such as clean energy, defense, and global issues like those in West Asia. Additionally, Jaishankar met with European Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva to explore collaborations in research and innovation in energy technologies and startups.
EAM Jaishankar discussed advancing connectivity and green shipping with European Commissioner Jozef Síkela, underscoring the need for deeper engagement between India and Belgium. He emphasized the strategic nature of India’s ties with Belgium and the EU, particularly through initiatives like the Free Trade Agreement and security partnerships. Jaishankar highlighted the importance of clean energy, digital technologies, and other sectors in strengthening bilateral relations.
