India and Japan reiterated their commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific during the eighth India–Japan Army-to-Army Staff Talks held from April 22-24. Both countries engaged in discussions on defense cooperation measures and outlined plans for future collaborations across various sectors. The delegation also met with the Chief of Staff of the Japan Ground Self Defence Force.

The Strait of Hormuz serves as a crucial maritime corridor connecting the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea and plays a significant role in global oil supplies.
In another meeting, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Special Advisor to Japan’s Prime Minister, Sadamasa Oue, discussed enhancing defense technology and economic security cooperation between India and Japan. This meeting aimed to strengthen the defense technology and economic security aspects of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
