India and Qatar have reiterated their commitment to strengthening strategic relations in various key sectors such as trade, energy, and cultural exchanges. During a two-day official visit to Doha, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri engaged in high-level discussions with Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi. The talks encompassed a wide range of areas including bilateral engagements, trade opportunities, energy cooperation, and cultural ties, underscoring the deepening partnership between India and Qatar.
Both ministers delved into the strategic aspects of the relationship between the two nations, focusing on high-level engagements, trade, investment, energy collaboration, culture, and people-to-people connections. They expressed mutual desires for the prompt restoration of peace and stability in the region, aiming to further enhance the bilateral ties between India and Qatar. Additionally, discussions revolved around the significance of maintaining peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of regional tranquility.
Petroleum Minister Puri conveyed warm regards and a message of solidarity from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The leaders highlighted the recent two-week ceasefire announcement made on April 8, stressing the critical need to ensure uninterrupted global energy supplies. Both sides acknowledged the essentiality of safeguarding freedom of navigation and facilitating smooth global commerce to uphold stable supply chains, underscoring the significance of global energy security.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of Qatar’s commitment to being a dependable energy partner for India, with a focus on continued cooperation in the energy sector. Minister Al-Kaabi emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration in energy matters. Furthermore, both sides expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended during the visit and pledged to maintain close communication in the upcoming weeks to advance shared interests.
