India’s Rahul Tripathi and Shreyas Iyer’s strong performances were not enough to save BPCL from a narrow two-wicket loss to Income Tax in the DY Patil T20 Cup at DY Patil Stadium in Nerul. BPCL, batting first, scored 151/8 in 20 overs, with Tripathi leading with 48 runs off 37 balls, supported by skipper Shreyas Iyer’s 32 runs.
Income Tax’s Saurabh Dubey (4-26) and Pankaj Jaiswal (2-28) were the standout bowlers. In response, Income Tax secured victory with Anuj Rawat and Harvik Desai’s partnership of 55 runs for the second wicket. Shahbaz Ahmed’s 24 runs were crucial as Income Tax chased down the target with two wickets in hand.
At DY Patil University, Nirlon dominated Indian Navy by 105 runs, with Kunal Singh Rathore’s unbeaten 93. The tournament will pause for the weekend, with the final round of Group matches set for Monday.
