India’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, commended the smooth transition of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi into the senior team. However, Morkel emphasized the importance of not hurrying Sooryavanshi into the playing XI, showing faith in established openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma for the upcoming second T20I against England in Manchester.
Acknowledging Samson’s recent struggle on the UK tour and Sooryavanshi’s eagerness to play, Morkel reiterated the coaching staff’s commitment to backing players with consistent performances for India. He highlighted the achievements of Samson and Sharma, underlining the need to support players who have excelled in crucial moments.
Morkel stressed the reluctance to alter the batting order just to accommodate new talents, emphasizing the significance of performance and maintaining players in their preferred roles. He mentioned the importance of building a strong top order in the current conditions without disrupting the team dynamics.
While refraining from specifying Sooryavanshi’s potential debut date, Morkel praised the youngster’s positive attitude and calm demeanor, noting his impressive adaptation to the international stage. He expressed excitement about Sooryavanshi’s future performances and highlighted the player’s seamless integration into the squad.
Praising fast bowler Prince Yadav, who transitioned from a net bowler for Lucknow Super Giants to an impactful performer, Morkel lauded Yadav’s composure and continuous improvement mindset. He appreciated Yadav’s ability to handle pressure situations and execute crucial decisions effectively, contributing significantly to India’s pace attack.
Morkel also commended Harshit Rana’s return from injury, emphasizing the added depth Rana provides to India’s pace bowling options. As India aims to level the five-match series, Rana’s intensity and skill further strengthen the team’s bowling resources.
