India’s captain, Shreyas Iyer, admitted that Ireland had outperformed his team in adaptability, leading to a 2-0 series loss. Despite India’s strong bowling performance, they struggled in batting and analyzing the pitch conditions, resulting in a defeat in the second game at the Civil Service Cricket Club.
This defeat marked the end of India’s 16-series winning streak in T20Is dating back to 2023 and also marked Iyer’s first series loss as the new T20I captain. Iyer praised Ireland for their professionalism, strategic play, and excellent fieldwork, acknowledging their comprehensive victory.
Reflecting on the debutants, Iyer commended pacer Prince Yadav for his IPL experience and performance, along with seam-bowling all-rounder Suryansh Shedge, who showcased a positive attitude in his first game. India will now head to England for the T20I series opener in Durham on July 1, followed by matches in Manchester, Nottingham, Bristol, and Southampton.
