India criticized Pakistan for disseminating fake news and videos to divert attention from its human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, expressed hope that the international community would hold Pakistan accountable for its actions. Recent clashes in Rawalakot, PoK, resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals, including protesters and security personnel.
Local reports confirmed casualties and injuries among security officials in Rawalakot, PoK, following clashes between the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) members and law enforcement. The Pakistani government intensified security measures in PoK after declaring JAAC a banned group under anti-terrorism laws. Tensions escalated as internet services were suspended, leading to widespread disruptions in communication across the region.
Protests have spread beyond Rawalakot to other parts of PoK, including Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Tata Pani, and Plandari. The demonstrators accused security forces of using excessive force, particularly after the deaths of Shahzaib Habib and Amjid Kashmiri, both associated with JAAC. The public outrage over the crackdown and alleged police brutality has fueled a broader protest movement in PoK.
