A strong performance by Vihaan Malhotra, taking 4 wickets for 14 runs, coupled with Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s aggressive 72 runs, led India to an 18-run victory over Bangladesh via the DLS method at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Despite early setbacks with two quick wickets, Suryavanshi’s resilient batting anchored India’s innings with boundaries.
As wickets fell around him, Suryavanshi’s quick 50 off 30 balls provided momentum for India, supported by Abhigyan Kundu. However, a burst from Iqbal Hossain Emon halted India’s progress, including a crucial dismissal of Suryavanshi at 72. Kundu’s impressive half-century further bolstered India’s total before rain interrupted play.
India eventually posted a score of 238, with Kundu contributing 80 runs. Bangladesh, facing a revised target of 165 runs from 29 overs due to rain delays, initially showed promise but collapsed after Malhotra’s return to the attack. Despite resistance from Azizul Hakim Tamim, Malhotra and Khilan Patel’s bowling prowess led to Bangladesh losing their last eight wickets for just 40 runs, securing India’s victory.
