Arshdeep Singh’s 3-24 helped India secure a comfortable 72-run victory over Zimbabwe in the Super Eights clash of the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup at MA Chidambaram Stadium. This win eliminates Zimbabwe from the competition and confirms South Africa’s spot in the semifinals.

India’s campaign, which had a setback against South Africa, regained momentum with this victory. The upcoming match against West Indies on March 1 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata is crucial for India.

Zimbabwe, chasing a challenging 257, fell short despite Brian Bennett’s impressive unbeaten 97 off 59 balls. Bennett’s efforts took Zimbabwe to 184/6, but he missed out on a century by just three runs.

Zimbabwe struggled throughout their chase, with opener Tadiwanashe Marumani falling for 20 after being dropped on 17. Despite Bennett’s resilient batting, India maintained control, restricting Zimbabwe’s progress.

Arshdeep Singh returned to the attack, claiming crucial wickets to further dent Zimbabwe’s chances. Despite some late hitting from Bennett, India’s bowlers, especially Shivam Dube, contained Zimbabwe effectively.

India’s dominant batting display, led by Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya, proved too much for Zimbabwe, securing a significant victory and improving their net run rate.
