India is keen on hosting the Asian Games in 2038, marking a potential return of the prestigious event for the third time since its last appearance in 1982. The country has expressed its interest in hosting the games during the Olympic Council of Asia’s executive board meeting in Sanya, China.
With the 2026 edition set for Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, and Doha lined up for the 2030 and 2034 editions in Riyadh, India is targeting the 2038 slot along with a bid for the 2036 Olympics. President of the Indian Olympic Association PT Usha recently met with OCA chief H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss strengthening the Olympic Movement in Asia.
India’s vision for hosting the Asian Games 2038 was shared during the meeting, emphasizing the country’s commitment to sports development and promoting Olympic values across the continent. In addition to this bid, India is set to host the Centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030 and the 2028 World Athletics Indoor Championships at Kalinga’s indoor stadium.
