Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw hinted that India is set to receive its inaugural Bullet Train on August 15, 2027. Vaishnaw mentioned that the country will soon see the debut of its first Bullet Train in the upcoming year. He encouraged people to consider purchasing a ticket for the Bullet Train, as it is expected to be operational by Independence Day in 2027.
The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express chair car has instilled a newfound sense of confidence among the populace, with widespread appreciation. Vaishnaw noted a surge in requests from various parts of India to introduce Vande Bharat trains, with significant interest from Members of Parliament. Plans are underway to launch a new overnight journey with the Vande Bharat Sleeper, maintaining the same level of comfort, safety, and standards.
The ambitious Bullet Train project in India will cover a distance of 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, with a significant portion passing through Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. The corridor aims to connect major cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi, Thane, and Mumbai, reducing travel time between these metros to approximately two hours, thereby enhancing inter-city transportation.
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd. (NHSRCL) reported that over 85% of the corridor, equivalent to around 465 km, is being constructed on elevated viaducts, with 326 km already completed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently reviewed the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project during his visit to Gujarat, underscoring India’s commitment to advanced transport infrastructure.
