India commemorates the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, a military action conducted by Indian armed forces a year ago targeting terror infrastructures and terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan. The operation was in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, where 26 innocent people were brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists from The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The Indian Army described Operation Sindoor as a resolute and precise response aimed at safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and its people. The Headquarters of the Indian Defence Staff recognized the operation as a symbol of national resolve, emphasizing the meticulous planning and execution of precision strikes on terror infrastructure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong stance against terrorism and its supporters was highlighted in a video released by the Army, where he vowed to identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers.
The video showcased the events leading up to the operation, including the detailed planning involved in the strikes. Prime Minister Modi’s firm message reiterated India’s diplomatic position against terrorism, emphasizing that terror and dialogue, as well as terror and trade, cannot coexist. The video also emphasized India’s unwavering stance against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, with a clear declaration that water and blood will not flow together.
The Pahalgam terror attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, resulted in the targeted killing of 25 tourists and a local pony ride operator who attempted to rescue them. The attackers, supported by Pakistan, singled out victims based on their religion, compelling them to recite the Islamic ‘kalima’ to identify non-Muslims. In response to this heinous act, Indian armed forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 6 and 7, executing a focused, measured, and non-escalatory military action against high-value terror bases in Pakistan and PoK.
‘Operation Sindoor’ showcased India’s military and strategic prowess by combining military and non-military measures to neutralize terrorist threats, deter further aggression, and uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism while maintaining strategic restraint.
