The India Open Super 750 badminton tournament has been rescheduled by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for February 2027 and January 2028. Originally planned for January 2026 in New Delhi, the event will now take place from February 2 to 7, 2027, and January 25 to 30, 2028.
Additionally, the Syed Modi India International has been downgraded to a Super 100 tournament. This competition in Lucknow is scheduled for July 27 to August 1, 2027, and July 25 to 30, 2028.
The BWF has announced a global circuit of 35 tournaments for 2027 and 2028, featuring events ranging from Super 1000 to Super 100, including the season-ending World Tour Finals.
The top tier of the calendar will showcase five Super 1000 tournaments in Asia and Europe, each lasting 11 days over two weekends. These tournaments will have extensive coverage, with all 1,095 matches broadcast worldwide.
BWF president Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul emphasized that the updated schedule prioritizes players’ well-being. The calendar adjustments aim to provide better playing conditions, scheduling, and recovery time between matches to support athletes in their pursuit of excellence and longer careers.
As part of its modernization plan, the BWF confirmed the adoption of a new 3×15 scoring system for all tournaments starting from January 4, 2027. The qualification window for the LA28 Olympic Games is set from May 3, 2027, to April 30, 2028, with details on the 2027 Sudirman Cup Finals, 2027 World Championships, and 2028 Thomas & Uber Cup Finals to be announced later.
