India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate expressed satisfaction with the confirmation of the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match in Colombo on Sunday. The fixture, previously uncertain, is now scheduled at the R Premadasa Stadium, ending speculation over a possible boycott. The decision follows negotiations involving officials from Sri Lanka, UAE, Bangladesh, and the ICC, leading to Pakistan’s agreement to participate.
“We are glad that the game is back on. Our preparation remains unchanged, and we are excited to face a quality side at this stage of the tournament,” ten Doeschate stated during a press conference. The Indian camp aims to steer clear of political discussions and focus solely on cricket, emphasizing the importance of concentrating on the upcoming challenge in Colombo.
Regarding families being barred from traveling with the team, ten Doeschate mentioned a lack of updates on the matter. He highlighted the BCCI’s policies and expressed uncertainty about the implementation of these regulations for the current competition. The assistant coach emphasized the team’s focus on delivering their best performance in the upcoming fixture against Pakistan.
