Yashasvi Jaiswal has been called up to fill in for the injured Virat Kohli in India’s upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan starting on June 13 in Dharamsala. Kohli sustained a right hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final, ruling him out of the series.
Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar mentioned that Kohli is expected to recover in time for the ODIs against England scheduled for July. Jaiswal, who last played an ODI on December 6, 2025, against South Africa, will step in for Kohli.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru following a back injury that sidelined him for a few matches in the IPL 2026. Rohit Sharma, recovering from a hamstring injury, will also seek fitness clearance at the CoE in the next few days.
India and Afghanistan will compete in the ODI series with matches in Dharamshala, Lucknow, and Chennai on June 13, 17, and 20, respectively. The squad for the ODIs against England will be announced later by the selectors.
