India, according to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), is not just catching up with the world’s top digital economies but has the potential to become a global leader in advanced 5G capabilities. COAI welcomed the introduction of 5G network slicing technology by Bharti Airtel for its postpaid customers, considering it a significant step in the country’s next-generation digital infrastructure evolution.
Lt. Gen. Dr. S.P. Kochhar, Director General of COAI, expressed enthusiasm over the deployment of 5G network slicing in India. He highlighted that this technology, already in use in leading digital economies like the United States, Singapore, and China, showcases India’s rapid adoption of transformative technologies. Kochhar emphasized the importance of continued innovation and investment for India to excel in advanced 5G capabilities globally.
Following the launch of ‘Priority Postpaid’ by Airtel, a service utilizing 5G slicing technology to enhance network stability for postpaid users, the company stated that this innovation allows for intelligent network capacity segmentation. By upgrading its 5G infrastructure with slicing capabilities, Airtel aims to optimize network efficiency, boost capacity, and allocate resources efficiently for Priority customers who require uninterrupted connectivity for work and entertainment.
Shashwat Sharma, commenting on the new service, emphasized Airtel’s commitment to customer-centric innovation through advanced technologies. ‘Priority Postpaid,’ powered by 5G slicing, promises a superior and reliable network experience for customers, ensuring seamless connectivity in various scenarios, including busy traffic, crowded events, or bustling markets.
