India has delivered the final batch of ‘Earthquake Relief Equipment for Detailed Post-Earthquake Building Inspection’ to the Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies (Fed.MES) in Yangon. This handover underscores the enduring partnership between India and Myanmar in disaster response, risk reduction, and resilience efforts. Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, Abhay Thakur, presented the consignment to U Khin Maung Htaey, President of Fed.MES, following the initial equipment transfer on March 30.
Several officials from Myanmar, including Minister U Nay Lin Tun and Minister Myo Thaw, witnessed the handover ceremony. The consignment comprises specialized tools like thermal imaging cameras, microtremor devices, profoscopes, and RTK drones to bolster earthquake relief and disaster management operations. With this second consignment, the total number of advanced engineering equipment provided under this initiative exceeds 357 units.
The equipment transfer is anticipated to enhance Myanmar’s disaster response capacity, especially in earthquake preparedness and post-earthquake structural inspection. It aims to improve damage mapping, assessment, and decision-making for rehabilitation and reconstruction, contributing to long-term resilience-building efforts in the country.
