India reaffirmed its position on the Indus Water Treaty, stating that it is on hold due to Pakistan’s ongoing support for cross-border terrorism. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that Pakistan needs to definitively cease such backing to move forward. The country marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, a significant military operation conducted against terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan.
The External Affairs Ministry highlighted that Pakistan has historically used cross-border terrorism as a strategic tool. India defended its actions as a response to safeguard against terrorism while actively contributing to the global anti-terrorism efforts. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar praised Operation Sindoor as a resolute response to cross-border terrorism, ensuring accountability for such activities.
Jaishankar underscored the government’s unwavering commitment, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. Operation Sindoor, conducted a year ago, showcased India’s determination to counter cross-border terrorism effectively.
