India showcased dominance at the 56th Grand Prix Usti nad Labem in Czechia, securing a total of 12 medals. The impressive tally included eight gold, three silver, and one bronze medal, marking a standout performance in their international campaign. The women’s team excelled, claiming four gold medals and one silver, with boxers like Lovlina Borgohain, Preeti Pawar, Sakshi, and Priya emerging victorious with unanimous wins in their respective categories.
The men’s team mirrored the success with four gold medals, with champions like Jadumani Singh Mandengbam, Sachin, Ankush, and Narender dominating their weight categories. Ajay Singh, President of the Boxing Federation of India, commended the team for their exceptional performance, emphasizing the remarkable achievement of winning against tough international competition. Singh particularly praised the women’s team for their outstanding display, securing multiple gold and silver medals with just five boxers.
Lovlina Borgohain clinched the 75kg title by defeating Italy’s Melissa Gemini, while Preeti Pawar triumphed over France’s Jeyssa Marcel in the 54kg category. Sakshi and Priya also secured gold medals in their respective weight classes with impressive victories. Among the men, Jadumani, Sachin, Ankush, and Narender emerged as champions in their weight divisions, showcasing India’s boxing prowess on the international stage.
The tournament also saw Aditya Pratap Yadav and Kapil Pokhariya settling for silver medals, while Sumit Kundu claimed a bronze for India. The Usti nad Labem Grand Prix, known as one of Europe’s prestigious boxing events, provided valuable international exposure to the Indian contingent as they gear up for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
