India began its U-19 Asian Boxing Championships campaign impressively in Jakarta, Indonesia. Chandrika Pujari and Joyshree Devi secured dominant victories on the opening day. Chandrika won against Mongolia’s Lakham Tsendbaatar in the 51kg category, while Joyshree defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chen Ning Hong in the 54kg division.
The Boxing Federation of India has entered 20 boxers in each of the U-19 and U-23 categories. This event serves as a crucial platform for India’s young talents to compete against the best in Asia. It aims to further India’s recent success and maintain its dominance in the region.
India’s campaign continues with U-23 men’s boxers competing next. Vishwanath Suresh faces Uzbekistan’s Amirbek Ismoilov, Ganga takes on Mongolia’s Amgalanbaatar Bulgankhuu, Sagar Jakhar fights Japan’s Koichi Nakayama, and Hitesh challenges Chinese Taipei’s Jun-Zhanglin. The Indian squad is determined to build on their strong start in Jakarta.
