India Sub-Junior men’s hockey coach Sardar Singh commended his team’s resilience and dedication as they secured an undefeated victory in the AHF Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship 2026 held in Muscat. The team’s triumph, including a 3-1 win over Pakistan in the final, not only earned them the championship title but also a spot in the upcoming FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup. Singh attributed the success to the players’ hard work, support from Hockey India, and meticulous preparation that culminated in a historic win.
Reflecting on the championship journey, Singh expressed immense pride in the team’s unwavering commitment and consistent performance throughout the tournament. The coach emphasized that the string of victories, notably three against Pakistan, was a testament to the team’s dedication and months of rigorous training. He highlighted the significance of the achievement in boosting the confidence of the young squad for future international competitions.
India’s dominance in the tournament was evident as they clinched victory in all seven matches played. Starting with convincing wins against Bangladesh and Oman, the team’s stellar performance continued with two wins over Pakistan in the Elite Pool matches. The final against Pakistan saw India emerge victorious with a 3-1 scoreline, securing both the gold medal and a coveted spot in the FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup.
Acknowledging the pivotal roles played by Hockey India and Punjab University in the team’s success, Singh expressed gratitude for their unwavering support and investment in nurturing young talent.
