India expressed gratitude to Armenia for aiding in the evacuation of its nationals from Iran amidst the escalating conflict in West Asia. The evacuation of Indian fishermen through Armenia is part of India’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safe return of its citizens from the region. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar appreciated Armenia’s assistance in facilitating the evacuation process.

Hundreds of Indian citizens have been evacuated from Iran to Armenia in recent days as India collaborates closely with regional governments to establish safe transit routes for its nationals. Azerbaijan also played a role in the evacuation, with 204 Indian nationals successfully crossing into Azerbaijan from Iran via the land border. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal mentioned that while some evacuees have already returned to India, others are expected to arrive in the coming days.

India had previously acknowledged Armenia’s support in evacuation efforts, with EAM Jaishankar thanking the Armenian government and people for aiding in the safe evacuation of over 550 Indian nationals from Iran. These evacuation operations underscore India’s diplomatic engagements and coordination with various countries to ensure the safety of its citizens amid the escalating tensions in West Asia.
