India is set to bring 50 Para-athletes, a mix of Paris 2024 Paralympic stars and newcomers, to the Dubai 2026 World Para Athletics Grand Prix. Meanwhile, the host country, UAE, will field the largest contingent with 65 athletes participating in the event at the Dubai Club for People of Determination grounds next week.
The competition will see a total of 500 para athletes from 56 nations, including renowned stars and some Paralympic medallists from the region, vying for top honors in the 2026 edition of the Fazza International Championships for People of Determination. The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) shared this information in a press release on Thursday.
Scheduled to run from February 10-13, the Para Athletics Grand Prix will kick off the season, followed by the Fazza International Badminton Championships from May 5-11 and the Fazza Para Archery Championships from November 7-12, 2026.
During a press conference, the organizing committee revealed key details of the championships, emphasizing the significance of the event. Thani Juma Berregad, Chairman of the Organising Committee, highlighted that the championships were initiated in 2009 under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the goal of promoting the integration of People of Determination through sports.
