India is set to create history by hosting the Asian Senior Fencing Championships 2026 in New Delhi from June 19 to June 24 at Bharat Mandapam. This championship, known as the ‘Asia Cup’ of fencing, is a significant event in the Asia-Oceania region and serves as a qualifier for the Asian Games and the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 cycle.
In addition to the tournament, New Delhi will host the 39th Fencing Confederation of Asia (FCA) General Assembly, with 42 delegates from Member Countries attending for the first time in India on June 19, 2026. Rajeev Mehta, secretary general of FCA & Fencing Association of India, expressed excitement about hosting the championships and the assembly, emphasizing the impact on Indian sports.
The event will showcase top athletes, including Olympic gold medallists like Cheung Ka Long, Oh Sang-uk, and Yamada Masaru, competing in various fencing categories. A diverse group of elite squads from 34 nations will participate in the championships, offering Indian fans a unique opportunity to witness high-level fencing action.
