The Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-IV) is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from May 28–31, marking the revival of India’s key engagement with Africa after a gap of 11 years. This summit underscores India’s commitment to placing Africa at the core of its global strategy. Leaders from the African continent are set to convene in New Delhi, highlighting India’s readiness to be a supportive partner that comprehends Africa’s challenges, respects its sovereignty, and invests in its long-term prosperity.

The summit is anticipated to introduce fresh initiatives in various sectors such as trade, health, defense, education, digital infrastructure, and critical minerals. This renewed engagement signifies India’s resolve to prioritize Africa in its global agenda. It offers African nations the prospect of collaborating with a reliable partner that values sovereignty and offers practical solutions. For India, this summit presents an occasion to strengthen bonds with one of the most vibrant regions of the twenty-first century.

With Africa projected to represent a quarter of the global population by 2050, the timing of this summit holds immense significance. The continent boasts reserves of critical minerals, some of the world’s fastest-growing economies, and a youthful and entrepreneurial population. African nations seek partnerships based on genuine collaboration, capacity building, and mutual respect, rather than dependency or coercion.

India’s engagement with Africa is deeply rooted in historical solidarity, dating back to anti-colonial struggles and the Non-Aligned Movement. This enduring bond has shaped present-day relations, positioning India as a developing nation that shares common challenges and values with African countries. India’s approach focuses on addressing local priorities and tailoring solutions to specific needs, rather than imposing standardized approaches. Over the past two decades, India has extended significant financial support, built infrastructure, and facilitated educational opportunities in Africa, reflecting a commitment to sustainable development and cooperation.
