India’s U-19 captain, Ayush Mhatre, lauded Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for his professionalism in handling high-pressure situations during the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup. Sooryavanshi, aged 14, played a crucial role by scoring 72 runs off 67 balls, aiding India in defeating Bangladesh.
The victory extended India’s unbeaten run in the tournament, showcasing their dominance in Group B. Despite his young age, Sooryavanshi has already achieved significant milestones in his career and has been performing exceptionally well with the bat.
Mhatre praised Sooryavanshi for his maturity and brilliant batting display, emphasizing his patience and adaptability to the challenging conditions. India posted a total of 238 runs in their innings, with key contributions from Sooryavanshi, Abhigyan Kundu, and Kanishk Chouhan.
Kundu’s steady 80 off 112 balls and Chouhan’s quick 28 off 26 balls were instrumental in India’s victory, with the former anchoring the innings and the latter providing a strong finish. Mhatre expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and highlighted the importance of focusing on their game without getting ahead of themselves.
India’s successful start in the tournament, including a win against the USA and the recent triumph over Bangladesh, has positioned them well in Group B. With a week-long break before their final group stage match against New Zealand on January 24, the Indian team is gearing up for the upcoming challenges in the super six stage.
