The India under-19 men’s team had a virtual interaction with Sachin Tendulkar before their important Super Six match against Pakistan in the U-19 World Cup. The match between India and Pakistan is now a virtual knockout, with only one team from Group 2 advancing to the knockouts. The BCCI shared that the young players gained valuable insights on success and longevity in sports from Tendulkar.
The U-19 team, along with the coaching staff, including Hrishikesh Kanitkar, Sunil Joshi, and Subhadeep Ghosh, were pictured with Tendulkar. VVS Laxman, the Head of Cricket at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, was also present. Laxman expressed pride in the team’s growth and commitment to representing India on the global stage. India, captained by Ayush Mhatre, had a convincing 204-run victory over Zimbabwe in their previous Super Six game.
Pakistan faced a setback before the crucial match as wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Shayan was ruled out of the tournament due to a nose injury. Shayan sustained a fracture while keeping to a fast bowler during practice. The incident occurred during a scenario-based practice match, leading to Shayan being hospitalized for confirmation of the fracture.
