The India U17 women’s national team faced a 0-2 defeat against Bangladesh in the SAFF U19 Women’s Championship 2026 in Pokhara, Nepal. Bangladesh scored both goals in the first half through Arpita Biswas (29’) and Alpi Akter (40’).

In preparation for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup, the India U17s made two changes to their starting XI from the previous match against Nepal. Thandamoni Baskey replaced Anushka Kumari in midfield, and Pritika Barman started instead of Valaina Fernandes.

Despite a strong start with early chances, including a free-kick by Elizabed Lakra and a shot by Pritika, India couldn’t convert. Bangladesh’s defense held firm, and they capitalized on their opportunities to secure the victory.

The loss places India in second position with three points from three games, while Bangladesh leads the table with six points from two matches. India will face Bhutan next in their quest to qualify for the final of the championship.
