India emphasized the need for cooperation from Bangladesh for the repatriation of illegal Bangladeshi nationals, with over 2860 pending cases of nationality verification, some unresolved for more than five years. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, urged Bangladesh to expedite the verification process to facilitate the smooth return of illegal immigrants from India.

He noted that the repatriation of illegal immigrants aligns with India’s laws and established bilateral mechanisms, underscoring the importance of cooperation from the Bangladeshi authorities.
